“We always want to create a home and environment that is approachable, liveable and warm. We love pairing incredible design with the comfort and functionality of how our clients will use their home,” says Orange County based-designer Lindye Galloway, about her firm’s philosophy.

When hired to lead the full-scale remodel of a 6,000-square-foot home nestled in the hills of Southern California, Galloway and her team were thrilled to transform the villa that was already full of European influences. “They wanted a space fit for entertaining but they also wanted it to feel like home,” she recalls of the clients’ requests. “They are forward thinking when it came to the design, which allowed us to form an amazing working relationship and infuse creativity and custom moments into their home.”

A bulk of the renovation was focused on expanding the kitchen so that it could grow with their family. “The kitchen gave us a challenge we were excited to creatively give new vision to,” Galloway says. “The layout was originally a bit funky with the placement of things in awkward locations and a flow that didn’t fit today’s lifestyle.” The island was repositioned, creating a more practical and enlarged work space. Steel doors were installed to not only bring in more natural light but to fuse a direct connection with the backyard.

Galloway and the team also overhauled the floorplan in both the primary bedroom and bathroom suite. “The existing primary bedroom had a bulky layout and a very small closet,” she says. “We dreamt up an entire new configuration for both spaces. With the shower, we created a wet room with interesting wood detail and even took over a secondary bedroom to turn it into a closet and connect it to the bathroom.”

The goal was to curate a home where the young couple could plant roots and start their family. Galloway and her team achieved this by infusing the home with sensible and stylish finishes, fabrics and furnishings that are both timeless and durable. When asked about her clients’ reaction, she remarked, “They absolutely loved it! It was exciting for them to see the new home and experience the joy of a stunning home fit for a family and entertaining.”
